Canada's Express Entry system is the world's most efficient immigration system, connecting skilled workers with Canadian permanent residency through a points-based Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

Understanding Express Entry

Express Entry manages applications for three federal immigration programs:

  • **Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)** — for skilled workers with foreign work experience
  • **Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)** — for skilled tradespeople
  • **Canadian Experience Class (CEC)** — for workers with Canadian work experience
  • How CRS Points Are Calculated

The CRS score is out of 1200 points, broken down as:

  • **Core human capital factors** (460 points): age, education, language, Canadian work experience
  • **Spouse/partner factors** (40 points): education, language, Canadian work experience
  • **Skill transferability** (100 points): combinations of education/experience/language
  • **Additional points** (600 points): provincial nomination (600!), job offer (50/200), etc.
  • What CRS Score Do You Need?

Recent draws have selected candidates with scores between 470–510. However, targeted draws for specific occupations (healthcare, STEM, trades) can have lower cutoffs.

Maximizing Your CRS Score as a Pakistani

**Language is King**: Every IELTS band increase can add 10–50+ points. Going from CLB 7 to CLB 9 can add 50+ points.

**Get an ECA**: Educational Credential Assessment from WES or similar body verifies your Pakistani degree.

**Provincial Nomination**: This adds 600 points — essentially guaranteeing an invitation. Provinces like Ontario, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan have popular PNP streams.

**Canadian Work Experience**: Even 1 year of Canadian work experience adds 40 points.
